Things to do when you are over tired

1: Take a nap.
2: Eat your salad on the stainless steel counter in the middle of the kitchen, with dressing.
3: Scare your brother by laughing uncontrollably at his very lame joke.
4: Chase seagulls in the parking lot.
5: GO take a nap.
6: Drink caffeine, lots and lots and LOTS of caffeine!
7: Pull the bread dough apart just to see if it will.
8: Did you know that gummies, bears, worms, butterflies, snakes, penguins, and frogs, could talk?
9: Try to catch a humming bird.
10: Clean the fridge out, fermented cherry pie filling can tell some really funny stories!
11:Poke the bread dough just to see if it's as squishy as it looks.
12: Figure out what FBI, CIA, UPS, and IRS really stand for.
13: Go take a nap please.
14: If you poke your siblings every now and then it makes you feel less sleepy.
15: Try and figure out what the chances are that someone would drive by at 5 o'clock in the morning if someone were to go do cart wheels in the nice big lawn out front.
!6: End your list at 16 just because you can.
17: Then don't 'cause you can do that too.
18: And end it at 18 instead.
19: Or 19.
20: Write a list about being tired.
21: And actually end it at 21 'cause who would want to be so boring as to end it at 20?
Anyone want to come for a visit? :-)

Sliced fingers, icicles, and sourdough.

I've been thinking about what to write here about my birthday party 'cause had a really wonderful day but I just can't seem to get my brain in gear to write about it. So all I'll say for now is thank you to everyone for taking the time and making the trek up here to make such a wonderful fun time possible! So with that said I'll post about sliced fingers, icicles, and sourdough :)
Monday afternoon some of us where at the store. Then we heard that Gideon was on his way to the Two Harbors hospital, he came back looking like this...

Proof that you should never go to the hospital!

But before that happened we discovered a that we had a 9 foot long icicle hanging of the corner of the roof!! I'm not sure how big around it is at the top but it's surprisingly small considering it's length.

.Now for my sourdough, well actually it Amber's but she wasn't here so I had to do it. So while I was at it I decided to photograph the proses, it's always more fun that way.

This is the nasty, bubbly, smelly stuff you have to start out with to get the sour part in there.

After it's all mixed....

divided into loaves.......

and weighed....

You round it up...

spray it....

and cover it,
and innocent by standers, in flour!! :)

After all that you have to do boring things like setting it to rise in the proofer.

But than you get to put cuts in the top, and if you know that you're planning to share the pictures you're taking you tend to cut some a bit differently that you might otherwise. :)

Than in and out of the oven it goes!

YUM! :)

Well that's all folks hope you didn't get to bored with all my divers ramblings!

Okay here I go again.........

This is the Natwick's Tree House. We clean for them and Gill had called to see if we could rent their place for the night to have a going away-good bye-sisters party, Natwicks told her that she could have it for a going away present!!

So, last Wednesday at 3:00 sharp (well, okay it ended up being closer to 4:00) the five oldest Lattin girls headed down the road to the Tree House our sisters party......
Due to a foreknowledge of the Tree House's location we tried to get a bit of a running start at the bottom of the drive so we could drive all the way to the top but we didn't quite manage to get up the icy incline in the van. So we grabbed the various bags of food, games, bedding, and backpacks and trudged the last treacherous bit on foot.....

To start the night off with, supper, chocolate, chips, and a few good girl movies. :)

Naomi had gotten the makings for a "softy" for Christmas and we thought that this was an ideal time to put it together with her.

The finished product.........

Also hiding from the camera. :)

This is one of our favorite games and Gill hadn't played it much, so we brought it along and got a couple games in through out the evening.

Getting our glazed movie watching look just right. :)

I think this is the I'm going to do something unpleasant to you if you take that picture look.

The next morning we had to get up a bit earlier that we may have wanted to but since we did I was able to get a few pictures of the sun rising over The Lake!

During the winter The Lake is often warmer than the frigged air, thus the fog bank and wisps.

Waiting for the van to show up before making the trek back down the hill.

On our way down.

A last peek through the trees

Good bye Gill we love you!

I don't know how.

I couldn't figure out how to space the pics. the way I wanted them in my post, so I decided to do a separate post just for them.

I still can't figure out how to write in between the pics. so that I can label them, so I'll do it here after the fact.
The first on is a few Guinea fowl. Then some of the children sleeping on the way home. :) The Rockstar is to keep one awake and even alert after getting up and going to bed at midnight Saturday. :) Some cleverly made wind chimes. A Zebu ("the weird cow")! Just some cages of animals. Pretty much self explanatory. :) Dart Podlewski. Ross Jamison, our butcher. The "cute little calf". :) Our booth. Doughnuts! Swap goers.

6:30 am: Everyone wake up, we're here!!......... We're here, wake up everyone!!!....... Hmm?? Whah? Mmm..... Huh?......... OH!! What time will we have to get here to get the spot we want?! (There are already 10-15 people here). Okay, hurry up and get unloaded, doughnuts first.

7:00 Can you bring that table over here? We need the oil still! Oh, it's in the pan. Get the anchors full before the canopy blows away! Okay... breads, cookies, candy, cheese, quick breads, granola, caramel rolls, and brownies, looks good. Now lets tidy up and get this show on the road!

7:30 The roosters are $5. No, the brownies are 75¢ for a big one and $1.25 for two small ones. That's what they look like when you start dropping them in when the oil is still 50° from the right temp, (pulls light brown, oil sodden blob from pan). We should give them a special price on the cheese, they're sooo nice, 1 for 3.75 or 2 for 8.50!! I need a mix made up!!!! Yes you may go look around, but watch out for cars, hold hands.

9:00 The roosters are $3. Sorry, the caramel rolls are gone already.I need some cold oil over here, the doughnuts are burning!! There is a really weird miniature cow thing with a big hump on it's neck!? There's someone over there selling rabbits for $75!! How many cups of coffee was that? We need to get the other pan of oil going!

10:00 The roosters are $2. MIX! Mama got her lilac, some irises, and a pair of ducks! If those Jersey/Holstein crosses were cows instead of steers we just might have gone home with one of them. :) Ah, there go the last of the brownies. Finally found the rabbit we wanted but we'll have to wait till it gets old enough; they'll bring it up to the store.

10:30 The roosters are still $2, though we're thinking of giving them away. Done! That was the last doughnut we're scooping till next week! Everyone may go look around and see what everyone else has (those who haven't left yet). Drrrrip, drrrip.... Hand, after letting a, very cute, calf suck on it. :) Okay let's get packed up.

11:00 How much are your roosters? $2. The four left for $5? Okay, we'll do it. Sell the cage? NO!!! Okay, let's go!! Just a minuet I need to go say bye to Podlewskis...................... Let's go!! Wait there's a loose chicken over there, we should go catch it!! Caught!! Let's go!

  11:30-12:00 WE'RE GONE!!!!
